” With Flying Colors “

I

With flying colors
as one’s creature comforts
when the crunch comes
and the cookie crumbles
off the cuff of a culture vulture
as happy as the day is long
save the day, that’ll be the day
some day, having seen better days
win the day, to this day, those were the days

II

Striking a balance
having a ball
beating the band
bearing in mind
getting one’s bearings
beat a path, bell the cat
blaze a trail, do one’s damnedest
at full blast, all the fun of the fair
the gift of gab, glad rags, in good hands
“How does that grab you?” ...
